Halo Kiwi – A One Month Review

Update 9/2019: Tati now offers refill packets at a 5% discount and a subscription service at a 10% discount! You do not have to purchase the bottle before buying packets. Again she listened to her customers and created a means to reduce plastic waste and the carbon foot print of her brand. I’m so excited about this and love the brand more for the stance and direction it is taking!

Halo Beauty is a brand by the beautiful Tati Westbrook (@GlamLifeGuru).  As a beauty YouTuber she shook the industry when she released vitamins instead of an eye shadow pallet like everyone else. I applauded her for this. I started watching Tati when Jake and I moved to Washington state in 2016, because I had no friends and traveled for work a lot. Come to find out Tati is a Washington native living in LA with her stellar hubby James. Her five days of posting gave an opportunity to visit with a “friend” during the week. She now is posting three days a week so she can properly manage her brand and her health. Kudos to you Tati because here on this blog we believe in that kinda thing. Now that you have an idea about Halo and Tati lets talk about the products she currently offers.

Eleven months ago Tati launch Halo Beauty with her flag ship product Halo Beauty Hair, Skin, & Nails Booster. I was not interested in the product because I didn’t want my hair to grow any faster than it does already. So I passed on this particular product and waited for what was next.

What came six months later was Halo Beauty Kiwi Skin Booster. Tati did something most larger brands don’t take the time to do. She listened to her customers.  What did the customers ask for? A skin care vitamin that wouldn’t promote growth of hair and didn’t have some of the Booster’s “controversial” active ingredients. Watch her Kiwi video here to get more details on that.

What made me so interested was the one month before and afters on Halo Beauty’s Instagram (@halobeauty). The before and afters of the reduction of acne scaring made me instantly want it. So I asked my mom to buy it for me for Christmas because I’m broke *nervous laughter*. Let’s dive into Kiwi a bit more now.

Kiwi will set you back $29.95 + shipping for a ONE month supply. Which is why I asked momma to came through with it as a gift. Thanks mom you da real MVP.

The blend of vitamins that make up Kiwi are here. The ingredient that gave Kiwi its name though is Kiwi-Rx. Kiwi-Rx is trademarked by Tati and is derived from a 50:1 kiwi seed extract. The website states that, “…has been shown to help balance sebum hyper-production which is associated with acne and clinically proven to reduce associated inflammation” (Kiwi Ingredients). This extracts is also said to balance pH, which can be related to balanced and clear skin.

My results:

Day 0

In the photos above you can clearly  see along my jaw and chin the acne scars I have from some very vicious cystic acne. Now I’ve gotten my cystic acne under control with my skin care routine which I have a post on also. Go check it out if you are curious.

My skin in this photo has been cleansed, but I have not yet done my night time skin routine.

Day 15

In this photo I totally forgot to take a photo before my skin care routine, so that is why my face is extra glowy. You can see in the right photo that I ended up getting some new break outs. I attribute this to being hormonal as it was around that time. It is probably good to note that the increased redness and the definition of my acne scars is due to rubbing on all my skin care.

Day 31

Wow. While using this I didn’t think it was doing much to be honest. Seeing these photos though my mind has changed. My scars have gradually, visibly, faded. The break-out from the day 15 photo has left a mark, but it has faded so much compared to what I feel my scars normally do (normally they hang out for months and months).

Final Thoughts:

I haven’t noticed much of a change in fine lines and wrinkles, but I didn’t expect to in one month. I do see more radiant and renewed skin. I’m still on the fence about inhibiting bacteria and balancing pH, because I’ve still gotten some white heads during the past month, but that may just be my skin ejecting gunk from day to day life. I also use broad spectrum SPF heavily due to my job and the exposure I get from UVA and UVB rays. I stopped using my Differin Gel during this time too, so my skin wasn’t turning over so much and I could better isolate Halo Kiwi. Other than that my skin routine was not changed.

I would purchase this again just for the fading of scars because they are what gives me the biggest complex about my skin. I’m not running out right away to buy it because I do not have the extra money right now. I’m a budget bitch and there is travel I’m saving for.
